At the AQHA West 1 Novice Amateur Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 18-22, Lynda Savenkoff of Pelly, Sask, and her horse, Lazy Lopin, placed Top 10 (6th) in Select Horsemanship and Top 15 (11th) in Select Showmanship.

To be eligible to enter this show competitors must have a current AQHA membership, have Level 1 or Rookie status, ride a registered AQHA horse and reside in a western Canadian province or a western USA state. The majority of the competitors were from the United States but there were a few representing Canada.
